The DS1525+ is Synology's current 5-bay desktop NAS, built on a quad-core, 8-thread AMD Ryzen V1500B with 8 GB of ECC DDR4 memory expandable to 32 GB. Two built-in 2.5GbE ports are standard, and a Gen3 x2 network upgrade slot accepts the E10G22-T1-Mini module for 10GbE, lifting sequential throughput to as much as 1,181/1,180 MB/s read/write.

Five hot-swappable SATA bays and two M.2 2280 NVMe slots (cache or storage pools) can grow to 15 drive bays with two DX525 expansion units. Synology's stated uses cover file sharing and sync, multi-endpoint backup, surveillance, and team collaboration workloads.
